Hi,

Today is a great day, I have just gathered my courage to present to you an old game that I have never released (beyond a small circle of friends), Felix Vengelis -Twilight King- 2. This game have a special story, it's a shadow that you hardly notice, but it does come from somewhere and tries to get out of the Twilight King 1 and Black Crystal Mask eclipses.

Already, what is the interest of presenting old games?

The interest is multiple.

• If you only discover me with this game, I would invite you to see a more recent and fun production.
• My itch.io page acts like a portfolio. As such, I think it is very interesting to see old productions side by side with the most recent ones, for comparison, and to show that I am in perpetual evolution.
• Logical continuation of the previous point, I want to show that I do not come out of nowhere and that I have the conviction to complete what I undertake and to surpass myself.
• This will show budding creators (or people who lack self-confidence), in all fields (video games in this case, but also writing or dance, for example), that nothing comes out of nowhere, Everything must have a beginning. For my part, I have come a long way, what it takes is not to let go and keep the faith.
• I am transparent, I have no reason to hide my old productions, failures or not. The case of Felix Vengelis -Twilight King- 2 is a bit special, it is his first publication, it does not bring much in reality, but is the witness of the difficulties of the trilogy to which it belongs.

Felix Vengelis -Twilight King- 2, what is it?

Felix Vengelis -Twilight King- 2 is like the first Felix Vengelis -Twilight King-, a turn-based RPG that is veryfreely inspired by The Legend of Zelda -Twilight Princess-.

Felix Vengelis -Twilight King-2 follows Felix and Filix Vengelis -Black Crystal Mask-,  both in development and scriptwriting, thus completing the trilogy initiated by Felix Vengelis -Twilight King-.

Felix Vengelis -Twilight King- 2 has a unique story, it was not planned and very quickly succeeds Black Crystal Mask. The latter had a much slower and less efficient development, I wanted to do Black Crystal Mask from start to finish with my cousin, with whom we had laborious means of production and communication, as I was able to explain in this devlog. Twilight King 2 was there to fill a void. Since I didn't know what to do, I just picked up the concept from Twilight King 1, reworking it a bit to follow Black Crystal Mask in a smoother way.

But, Twilight King 2, what does it bring?

From a technical point of view, it was my first game to run with the RPG Maker VXace engine, the remake of the first Felix Vengelis -Twilight King- is based on the foundations of Felix Vengelis -Twilight King- 2.

As Felix and Filix Vengelis -Black Crystal Mask- was behind schedule, Twilight King 2 first introduced a new type of dungeon: tiered dungeons. In reality, they were predefined labyrinths, they were just rearranged to make real dungeons, the formula is not that different than in Twilight King 1. It is Black Crystal Mask who perfected the formula, which we will find in a lot of following games.

In the mood, although Twilight King 2 could be special, sometimes very special, the game was the first to put its humor forward ... But the result is not great ... But it is here that the character of Carlemany the Fury, antagonist of the trilogy, takes on a more original personality compared to before. Carlemany the Fury was dark, just mean with no real sympathy. In Felix Vengelis -Twilight King- 2, Carlemany the Fury seems funnier, more present, while remaining cruel, cold and manipulative. Twilight King 2 also had a more marked geopolitical aspect (country flags are present, and 3 states interact with each other).

Is the version presented on itch.io the original from 2012/2013?

Considérant cette première sortie comme étant la version originale... Bah c'est la version originale. Mais quelques points viennent différencier la version présente par rapport aux anciennes versions.

• Some passages even more daring than in the first Twilight King have been replaced altogether.
• The current end of the game is not that of previous versions.
• There are more restore points compared to before.

This version shown on itch.io is referenced as v1.0 build27112020.

The big disclaimer on the main page discourages me, can I still play Black Crystal Mask?

Obviously, I would rather recommend that you play HopDrop. The disclosure of my archives is especially there to mark what I said in the part "Already, what is the interest of presenting old games?". Also, if ever some curious people want to rub shoulders with Felix Vengelis -Twilight King- 2, despite all the warnings on the quality that I have been able to do, I encourage them. Seeing this old game to learn from it (what works or not in a video game, work on yourself to gain more confidence ...) is something that I find very beautiful.
